breaking strain

when making or buying rigs, should the b/strain be the same as the shock leader

seems silly having 60lb shock but only 10lb rigs (the ones ive been buying are anyway)

what should i do when making my own

The main line of the rig body should be at least 50lb b/s....it`s only the hook lengths that can be a lot lighter depending on what you`re after and what ground you`re fishing over.

As long as the hook length is not taking the strain of the cast you will be ok.

If i am crimping rigs which isnt often now i like to use a 80lb rigbody and a 60lb reel shocky. If im not crimping then i just use a 60lb rigbody. I allways use a clear rigbodies it just gives me a confience boost possibly because of my coarse fishing. I also like to go on line diameter as brands under estimate and over estimate the breaking strain.

i do use the same BS as my shock leader when i make my own (hook links are a lot lighter)
but the shop bought ones are bout 10lb to 20lb surely then these should be binned (talking of 2 hook flapper type rigs)
