Hi all
I'm after a little help...
I'm fishing Borth in a few weeks on a club match.
We are fishing near the prehistoric forest!!
And I was woundering what's the best way to fish there...
What's the best rigs, hook size, is it best to use a light rod and flick into the surf of use a long beach caster and go right out, best bait ect
A little heads up would be great as a few of the fella in the club as already fished the mark before.
any help would be great.

No Halton S.A.C are having a club match here 21st April 2011.
If it's any good might fish again if there is another comp

Turbot are often the target species there...small hooks with sandeel sections should do well,fished close in. Bass are always on the cards if there`s a bit of a surf on...early spring may see them on the look out for crab....big softie or peeler fished close in again,though fresh blow lug will always tempt them too.
Jags has fished there a few times with Pirates/Buccs so he may have some info.

Do you reckon Maddies are worth a go aswell?

if you want to win your matches fish with Maddies for the flounders, light long snoods small hooks( 4-6) and tip them off with a bit of mackerel If the flounders are not there go long with sandeel for the dogs or crab ' lug for the bass. they get small eyed rays here to sandeel and turbot to mackerel but targeting either species wont win you your matches. The club im in ( sefton sac) is fishing there in june, really looking forward to it. We have fished there a few times and twice its been won with maddies and once with crab ( bass) It can be very peggy Hope this helps , for more info look at the wfsa site as they fish ther fishoffs for the national side there.
