The main beach,some 200yds to the left of the white house is shallow,and in my experience only fishes well when there`s a lump on the water..i`ve had thornies and small eyed rays at low water,but that involves wading out(up to 50yds) and casting as far as i could....[ 90 mins either side of low can be productive,but when the flood starts in earnest,it`s fishing on the move like Formby and does`nt seem to do much....the 2 hours or so either side of high water is usually best with the greater your casting distance increasing your chances of rays....you don`t
have to be a big caster to get them,especially if fishing in the right sea conditions and after dark. The bass and turbot are prob the main other targets and they can be taken pretty close in,again if the conditions are right,in either daylight or darkness.
You can eliminate the need for casting distance by fishing the very deep channel from the white house to 200yds to the left where it forms a big bowl/basin...the area close to where the basin/main beach meet is a good spot and produces good sport...the prob is the depth of the channel means the tidal pull can be terrific depending on the size of tide.....the ebb can often be best from this area. Plenty of bass run through this fast water stretch too,with spinning/plugging a good option...a lot of fish can be seen jumping @ 2 hours either side of low water.
It`s one of those places where it`s just a pleasure to fish,but also has the potential,given the variants in ground ,depth,tidal flow,to throw up some big fish. If i had the time i would fish it to death
