Not thinking about the bank holiday weekend, me and captain ken met up at bannister farm at 7am, our intention to fish the T pond after the success earlier in the week, on arrival there were half a dozen already fishing and about another 12 anglers making a stampede for pegs, we took to the path between the T pond and the snake, and eyed up a couple of swims which neither of us had fished before, we had an arsenal of assorted bait for every considered attack in the form of meat corn hemp pellets paste bread and soft hook pellets

The wind was blowing from the north instead of the predicted west, to say the fishing was slow to start was an understatement, but we carried on regardless, iwas fishing meat over hemp on the far side and pellets on the right hand margin, and ken fished similar in his peg, i bought a new power top last week which i was keen to christen, i had 2 set up, one with a hollow 10 elastic and the other a solid 12 both had similar rigs of 4lb X 3lb and 16 hooks, over the next couple of hours anglers disappeared from the snake, the fishing was that hard, ken and me were catching a few pasties, some bream and skimmers and i even had a small tench, then hooked a really nice fish.....bad idea using the hollow elastic, there is so much forgiveness in it the fish was able to run easily into the reed bed on the inside, i lost 3 more fish the same way until the lessons were learned, and i put the new power kit down.
on with the solid 12, just 6ft of 6lb line and a size 10 hook, i was now on the uncut loaf tearing nice chunks of crust to float just off the reeds on the far side, it started slow, but steadily they fed with confidence and came to the net one after the other until a very nice weight was built, the captain had gone around the corner to my right and was managing a few fish the same way.
