Where to fish on the Mersey

Post by Northwest fisherman »

First off hello to everyone at Wirralseafishing forum.

I'm new to this site and need some advice on where to fish on the Mersey.
After an un eventful trip to wales not catching my friends and I want to fish the Mersey tonight but unsure of where to fish as I've never fished the Mersey before  . I've been told we're going somewhere at the back of John Lennon airport. If anyone can give me some tips and advice on where to fish, baits ect it will be much appreciated.

Tight lines

Hello mate, welcome to the site.
its a bit iffy fishing down there of a night and parking your car.
you are better off fishing Otterspool , and its all lit up, not far to walk.
You have missed high tide today though the next high tide is 2.20 am in the morning .
If you want somewhere to fish check out the venues section on here.

Thanks for the advice Tombod . We're planning on night fishing until the morning so we should be alright
This Otterspool you mention, is that near the otterspool harvester? I've just looked it up on google map. Looks like there's a good few miles of path by the Mersey is that the spot?

There are a few spots along there with easy parking all the info is in the easy venues section on here.
or you could try here .....http://www.wirralseafishing.co.uk/forum ... 53&t=20284
come to think of it forget the Widnes one, there are diversions everywhere with them building the new bridge.

Thanks again Tombod :thumbsup:Both venues you've mentioned look good. As I've never fished these two venues, which spot do you think will be best for me to try?

A big tide tonight and a bit windy so it will be hard most places.
If you are going to this side of the Mersey I usually go here http://www.wirralseafishing.co.uk/forum ... 53&t=12748
2 minuet's walk from the car and lit up all along . and if the weather turns bad your quickly on your way home.
Down Jerico lane park at the bottom car park and walk down the path fish to your right (anywhere).
Tommy
P.S. Parking is free here

I live less than a mile away from it and wouldn't park my car there and take a chance at night time.
You may be ok. but not for me. if you follow the road round and park by the cottage and walk down the track fish by the culvert less muddy there.
Plenty of eels and flounder about.
