Looking to have a cod hunt or two up there this winter....a south westerly/westerly breeze appears to be a must but does anyone have any info on the optimum size tides to fish....i`d be hoping to have a good crack,fishing a couple of hours before low and back up to high.

used to fish it years ago. Spring tides over 28 ft, 15mph west wind best bait black& blow lug once had a thornie 6lb there, was a 1off. needs a good reccie at low water as some of the ground is quite heavy. give us a head up when you can go, fancy a change of venue. hope wifes op goes OK

A good few years ago we tried up there for a few trips based on tales of double figure Cod giving themselves up
If i remember rightly the times we caught best where big tides and Northerly/North West winds but the biggest Cod between three of us was under 6lb and we never caught more than about 7 between us.
Got to be 10 years ago now so not really up to date sorry.I had a Mate who lived in Aspatria which is further up that coast and reckoned Silloth was a better bet but we never got around to trying there and he lives down South now so I cant ask him..
