Escaped base camp for a few hrs to fish here ,way round to the left of the taller lighthouse .lucky enough to get a spot with a rail behind me( which is out of this picture ) otherwise your on a 8 ft wide wall with serious drops to both front and back .scary oops !!Anyway fished into dark with a local guy right next to me .I had three thornbacks ,which I had drag up by hand while my new mate grabbed my rod behind me
.it was dizzying oops .he was after conger , just dropped a half a mackerel straight down the pier wall and eventually got a 9lb conger which he had to walk (100yrds)around to the steps you can see above -passing under 15 or so anglers as he made his way round so he could land it .!!thats the norm apparently!!It’s a great mark ,right into deep water no matter what state of tide , but if your not by the light house or the double steps on the elbow ,where I was ,it’s really dangerous .so be warned guys .

River esk estuary ;had this rod out , feeding crabs as it turned out .
Later on in the evening got my light spinning set up on the go , and was rewarded with this feisty little fekker
Come in at 2 3/4 lb .after three previous blanks around this estuary ,I was delighted I took my local conger hunting mates advice ,to try here .two more contrasting marks you couldn’t imagine !
