round 10 report and end of season results

Post by mark davies »

Firstly Sorry for the report being late but I have just not had chance to do it with only a few days to get sorted for the E.O.B.C only got back yesterday totally knackered now but a great weekend and as a bonus I finished 157th weighing in on the saturday

Well the final round was at town hall /Guniea Gap we all met up on the road by the side of the town hall where we all had a chat and a coffee before we walked down .
We got down to the prom and was quite supprised that there were no pleasure anglers down there so we all spread out from the town hall to just past guinea gap and soon enough all in was called it was a slow start with mainly undersized fish being landed . After the first hour Jordan Robberts had the first in size fish with a Rockling which was a good size and measured 23cm another half an hour a few reports were coming up the prom that a few people had one fish of the combo that was in size but at this point it was going to be a struggle today.High water came and went and the fishing was still very slow with mainly undersized fish being landed then news came that a couple of people had the combo but it was going to be close .
Jordan had a 23cm dab to go with his rockling then had a good bite reeling in it felt heavy he got it to the wall but it still had not surfaced so we were'nt sure what it was it may have been weed as there was alot of rubbish coming back down the river .Unfortunately the tide pushed it right up to the wall and the main line caught on the railings and he lost it we could see the line still attached to the railings at least he could get his lead back when the tide dropped.
As the tide dropped I dropped a gripper over the rails and hooked the loose line and managed to get hold of it then to our supprise still on the end of the hook was a lovely Thorn Back Ray but unfortunetley it could'nt be counted so we carried on and 2 o,clock soon came and all in was called back to the cars to collect the cards .
All cards collected and we headed to the Ferry pub for the results and a bite to eat so while we were waiting for our food I went through the results for the day then added to the table for the final league results totted up all the final score with everyone dropping there lowest 2 which did'nt alter much as everyone only had to drop 2 zeros or a single point .
Results done and Dave Robberts double checked them for me which was good as i had made a mistake missing off one score off one persons total which made a big difference to final positions just in time as the food started to arrive .
So everyone tucked in and I must say the food was great the cod was lovely. Once every one had finished the presentation,s were made starting with to days match.
1st place went to Jonny Waugh who had Flounder and a small codling for 59 cm
2nd place went to Dale Edwards who had a 23cm dab and a small 24cm codling for 47cm
3rd went to Jordan Robberts with a 23 dab and a 23 rockling for 46cm
the top 3 were the only ones to get the flat and round combo on the day
4th Dave robberts
5th Rob Turner
5th Garry swift
7th Mark Davies
8th Yurie Kalwolski

So now the final oevrall league results

1st John Waugh with 58 points
2nd Dale Edwards with 51 points
3rd Jordan Robberts with 48 points
4th Dave Robberts with 47 points
5th Mark Davies with 45 points
6th Stuart Davies with 39 points
7th Roy scofield with 38 points
8th Richie Fisher with 31 points
8th Garry Swift with 31 points
10th Dylan Kensal with 30 points
10thRob Turner with 30 points
Winner of the cod cup was Stuart Davies with a cod of 62cm caught at seacombe
winner of the biggest whiting which was sponsered by Jimmy Redfern went to Stuart Davies with a whiting of 37cm caught at Otterspool

I will up date the league table in the leader board table post.

so with all the results done and dusted the winter league came to an end .
This years winter league has been tough going with the fishing being generaly poor but in total we had 48 people fished at least 1 match with the average attendance of 20/21 per match while the fishing was poor the company has been great which made everything worthwhile and thanks to everyone who attended and a special thanks to Dave And Jordan for supplying fresh lugg for every match which has been hard some weeks with some of the the weather and tides we have had.
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the summer league which we are hoping to start either the end of April / begining of May . I will try and get up at least the first half up by the end of March

 ??????

Stu It is call Wirral sea fishing Mark may feel everyone is happy fishing around the Wirral .
And the one's that would like a change should help him out and put forward venues and how a large group should fish them.
Giving him help and information to implement any change in venues.

Only reason am saying this is with Perch Rock / Vale park / Town hall steps / Rock Channel / Talacre .??? Everyone understands them and are used to fish the venues.

If you go other places most high water fish poor in day light or low water venues either fish poor again or are to small for large groups because of size or the tide will push you off.
