phwelli harbour entrance 15th july

got to phwelli earlier than rest of wsf lads so headed down to harbour entrance, luckily two lads allready there who pointed me in right direction of tactics. water was on its way from high to low, prob mid way by then. Boats are a real pain in bottom, but was a glorious sat afternoon to be fair. was told to aim for the groyne in pic below.

lads had allready caught, bream, bass and wrasse so felt hopeful. Theory is cast out as soon as boat traffic allows a safe gap, then try keep line low in water to avoid them cutting it, and as they all pass and water calms wait for the feeding frenzy. Blob on, straight into a little wrasse.

waited till next opportunity to cast, then as soon as all those pests had passed a bigger bite and bigger wrasse

well that was it, a quick half hour to pass the time till lads arrived. on a quieter boating day think it could be a very interesting venue.

I got down around 11am and ended up going out on Sven`s boat with Lee....crackin day but the fishing was carp...mack n dogs with 1 nice wrasse for Lee on a plug

A crackin day for being out and about! Waddy, Petethebeat and myself met up with Tonylfc as arranged ready to fish the marina entrance but with all the boat traffic (kids off school etc

) it was not the best option so we switched to fishing the beach in front of Gimlet Rock. Jason and his dad met up with us and we hit the beach. First cast for myself brought in a Scorpion fish on my bream rig. A promising start but a false one. The fishing was dead bottom wise although the Mackeral put in an appearance as the sun went off the water!

(9.20pm we switched back to the Marina as most of the boat traffic had ended by this time. Pete managed a dogfish to go with his Macky tally but the tide pull was to strong 3hrs into the flood. We stuck it out into darkness but it seemed that the fishing would not be improving and called it a night!

Well...it was almost the end of the night but we did the sociable thing and called in to see Sven and Lee at Parsal campsite on the way back to say a quick hello. 2hrs later Sven had managed to finish Waddies day out with a few VERY large slugs of Southern Comfort! A can for myself (who would be a driver when this was on the cards!) and a slug or two for Pete rounded off a great day out. Its just a shame the fish weren't playing but if the boat fellas were not doing much then I would imagine the whole of the Llyn would have been similar except maybe the rock marks.

A special mention to Tony who cooked bacon egg and sausage sarnies for all a couple of times through the session.....THANK YOU very much Tony from Waddy, Pete and myself..very much apprieciated!

Like Phil said......toss on the fishing front but who cares when the crack and Weathers' this good. Everyone was on top form and the beer kept flowing (not for Phil "the taxi"). A massive salute to Tony "the man with the pan" and Phil for driving the p1ss heads home, and Waddy for snoring most of the way back

Always good to see Bren and Lee, though the massive hangover would suggest otherwise!
Was great to see my old mate Jason (Westy72) and Bill, hope you chaps can make it again (soz about the lack of fish lads)
Here's hoping for a rematch soon.........

Great report lads.It made my day in work all the worse.

It was good to see though that the WSF'ers kept up the tradition of having flames of some sort where ever they go.
