Elton Reservoir (Bury)

Has anyone ever fished Elton Res in Bury?
if so whats the best way to fish it, baits and stuff? I will be fishing for anything and trying for the big pike as well.

I fished it years ago in winter league matches from the steep stoney wall end.It was usually feeder and quivertip for the bream and hemp and caster on the pole for roach.There was always a strong undertow so we used flat feeders with plenty of lead to overcome this.

Not been for a while but I have seen anglers fish the far end although its a bit of a walk and you'll need yer wellies

There is a canal at the back of the lake which I believe fishes better.Maybe some good Pike in there.

Try the Lodges at Starmont (Bradley Fold)..........you'll need a day ticket from the tackle shop on Ainsworth Road.
