loads of good advise there.

use a pennel pulley rig. when you cast out bow your line and keep your rod low. this will put your bait on the sea bed. the pulley rig is much better than a fixed pennel, allowing the fish to pick it up and run, when it starts to pull the lead along it will hook it self. when you are retrieving the fish it will pull the lead up out off the way, and the lead is less likely to snag. but i only really use a pennel when i am casting out a long way or in a strong tide run. when fishing short a 1 up 1 down rig with a single hook will do just fine for Mr Codo.

Managed to find a picture of something that shows how the ledger rig would put the bait on the sea bed not the desk.



As you see the lead is clipped before the Hook's does this make a difference on the laying of the bait to say using the pennel, thanks for letting your kids make them pennel pictures I'll add them to my blog.
