i have two abu's and a 7ht
the 6500 mag is ok only fuched it up the once
my abu seven well thats just fuched and i only use it for close in work with heavy lines
I have only fished with my 7ht 3 times but i have much more confidence in it and for my birthday i will be getting a diawa slosh as they are not to expensive and i have heard great things

i have two abu's and a 7ht
the 6500 mag is ok only fuched it up the once
my abu seven well thats just fuched and i only use it for close in work with heavy lines
I have only fished with my 7ht 3 times but i have much more confidence in it and for my birthday i will be getting a diawa slosh as they are not to expensive and i have heard great things

I agree I used to have a few of the smaller abu's and they werent the best but find the 6500 very well made. My dads had a 7000 over twenty five years and still going strong. Had a SLOSH20 original for ten years no problems whatsoever either although I don't use them as much as some. Quite controlable to cast too.

I bought two ABU 7000s in 1979. I`m very lax when it comes to claning and maintenance but they lasted over 20 years before I decided they weren`t worth keeping any longer.
I bought a new 7000 (Chinese?) and it started rattling after 6 weeks and not long after that bits started falling off it.
I then bought a green Mag Elite and the orange one (Premium?). They`re lovely reels but I don`t predict a long life for either unless they`re fully stripped and lubed each session- which I don`t do.
I sold the two old, battered 1979 ABU 7000s on Ebay and got £77 for the pair - I think that says something about their quality - I shoulda kept `em
