Well.....finally got my akios......absolutely awesome,casts like a dream,super fast retrieve,rivetted reel seat,and the braking is precision.....just waiting to get another now,they're like gold dust at the minute. These reels appear to have addressed the 'odd' misgivings of the abu,and i cant see why they wont be a big hit with anglers,just hope the spares back up is as good.

After having a couple of Abu cages break at the reel seat, that has definately put me off getting one of those.

mechanical wise what is the difference between the abu,s and these or they just the same frames/workings

basically you're getting an awesome mag reel,with the same ct casting properties of the 'old' traditional ct for only 100 quid.Plus a power handle,for additional torque,and a much stronger cage,and reel seat.
