There`s always water at the Jericho Lane stretch and the first hour or so of the flood is often good for codling.

Hi Mark, its really a high water mark medium tides at Otters.. I have scrambled down at low water and fished the tide up but its difficult, snaggy and muddy. You are best going over to Perch rock or THS or vale park for a low water with big tides. Its comfortable especially with westerlies and you have a good chance of a codling though this year they have mostly been small. Cast well out with lug tipped with squid and if they come through you may be lucky. I think the codling pass through going upstream on the flood and down again on the ebb. You get a half hour at the most each run to hook one. Later around slackwater the flatties come out to play. Whiting turn up all over the place at any time. Best at night but still worth fishing in daylight. Leave the mark no later than one and a half hours after low water unless you are a strong swimmer with full pack on your back.
