Im using 18b red ice with 2x 4/0 sakuma's (a mean hook if ever there was one)....as for snood length 15"......20" and 30" see what kills and stick to it.

all these boat tactics, everyone has different ideas, big hooks/little hooks, long snoods/short ones, little weight/heavy ones, uptide/downtide, oohhhhhh my head is hurtin

me keep it simple, two medium hooks, medium snood, heavy weight and drop over side, sit down and open a stella 8) 8) 8)

30 to 50lb line is good enough for snoods/traces anything lighter tends to twist up badly in the flow, the fish dont mind and if you do hook a decent cod or a conger/ray you stand a much better chance of landing it.
Basic two or three down rigs will catch whiting/small codling/dabs and a simple pennel rig will take care of the bigger fish.
Keep it as simple as you can and you will spend more time fishing and less time untangling.

If I catch dabs/small coding/whiting then its a bad day at the office as far as i'm concerned....I can catch them in my backyard. I'm pricing those little gets out the game in search of something worth a photo :)
I did catch a dab on a big pennel once though.
