Tying/making a Conger rig

Ive prepared this for people who want to try there hand at Conger/huss fishing for the first time 
HOW TO TIE A CONGER RIG
Materials; To start your gonna need Heavy mono cos them conger have rasping teeth Anything between 100-250lbs will do but 150lbs the norm for most shore conger applications You will also need double crimps to suit the size line you have got Size 3 crimps are for 150lb mono Equally important is strong hooks, I use 6/0-8/0 Sakuma 545 mantas but if on a tight budget cheaper hooks could be used but dont come crying if the bend or snap 
You will also need strong swivels, they dont need to match your mono strength though
Heres a Diagram i drew to make it a little easier
Tying; To start i cut the mono for the hooklength 1.5ft, 2ft if i wasnt using a 'grabbing' leader. I use the leader only at rock marks where a drop net/landing net or gaff cant be used safly Having the extra 4-6 foot of thick line gives you something to grab and haul with without fear of snapping the mainline under the pressure of the quick lift also with it being thicker than 30lb line it wont cut into your hand under pressure and means you dont need to get so close to the edge The second swivel also comes in very handy when the eel starts doing its death roll cos just one cant cope 
Next i crimp a swivel onto one end to do this put the line through one side of the crimp, slide the swivel on and stick the protruding line through the other side of the swivel leaving a small tag on the other side Then using double crimping pliers squash the crimp into place.... if like me you dont have this tool and quiet likely you wont i just use cutting pliers and squash the crimp in 2 places on both sides... you dont want to press too hard and totally flatten the crimp as this will only weaken the line In the pic you can see a few lines that have been made due to this process 
Next crimp a hook onto the other end, if your choosing to tie a trace and not a complete rig your done andit should look like this;
If you require a grabbing/rubbing leader then read on.
Cut a length of heavy mono about 4-6ft long depending on your preference and crimp one side to the swivel on the conger trace... slide another swivel onto your grabbing leader, this will be to attach your lead to, tie 20lb line to the swivel and in turn tie this weaker line to your lead, it acts as a rotten bottem but do go whacking it..... not that your could with half a mackrel on the hook
finally crimp another swivel onto the end to tie to your mainline
It should end up like this

IF YOU DONT HAVE ONE....... GET ONE For a fiver they come alot easier and cheaper than a finger
