Thanks guys.... everyone seems to have a different take on what to do, and the goalposts seem to be constantly moving. I think you need to be a member of a club and carry indemnity insurance before you can apply for a permit.

Yuup. You get the insurance by being in a club.

The information in that thread is out of date, it is not the procedure anymore.

All the information was in the POLSAF section, but that got deleted and I am not typing it all again.

It is quite simple, you either need to be in an affiliated club ( such as WSA, Sefton Sea Anglers, Chorley SAC, The Pirates, The Buccaneers and a few others whos names escape me ) or you need to prove to POLSAF you have private personal insurance -- there are many ways of getting this.

You apply to POLSAF ( or through your club ) and they validate your eligibility and then you go get a permit after making an appointment and producing your POLSAF receipt ( proof of eligibility, verified by POLSAF ).

If you are a member through a club, then you will renew through your club from then on.
