Hi Folks,

I Have got a little trip out to Jersey in the channel Islands next week to escape from the mayhem or work etc for a few days and seeing as I've not had a chance to fish since the winter league, I figured I can get some done here at my leisure. Has anyone got any experience of fishing around there? Ideally wanted to get on a charter but only seems to be one and he's fully booked, so it looks like a bit of rock hopping, spinning and light bottom fishing with my small spinning rod.

Any advice on venues and tactics would be greatly appreciated.

Hi parky, my sister moved there a few years ago and have been fortunate to get out fishing a few times. Not sure were your staying? or if you have access to a car to get round the island or not but I'll give you some marks and places for bait etc. The first mark st Catherine's breakwater ( South East just past gorey Castle) is a must as you can fish it most states of tide, there's also a bait/tackle shop on there which is handy, I only fish the bottom wall as the top wall is a bit of a drop down (similar to Holyhead). There's a good tackle shop on green street (jfs tackle) which is on the prom near St helier, the guy on there will give you some good advice. A guy call Dave Roberts who was a member of Sefton sea anglers lives there and visits this shop regularly. There's a spinning mark not far from there which is by the powestation too. You can also go to the market in St helier which has a tackle shop too. West of the island is mostly prommed so try near the water splash ( 5 mile road/grande route des mielles). The bait shops will put you on other marks too. Due to the swells and massive tides (upto 40ft!) I would recommend rock hopping on the west side as its pretty dangerous but I'm sure you will enjoy it wherever you go as is my opinion its a fishing paradise. Weather looking spot on so lets hope the fish play ball! Better than work either way ha. Hopefully be a trip report worthy. (And I'm staying In Saint Helier)

many years ago saw some good wrasse off the rocks around Greve de Lecq, and massive surf beach at St Ouens for bass, loads of mullet in the shallow beaches near st helier, used to chase the shoals in ankle deep water.
