Anglesey on Monday 14th

Post by AndyE »

Folks,
Planning my first ever fishing trip to Anglesey for next Monday and am open to any hints or tips.

As it’s my first trip am going to go for a daylight session, base plan is go to Ty Croes, armed with fish, squid and worm from the freezer and anything fresh I can pick up on the way. Weather looks pretty benign on the forecast, LW is mid afternoon so this will be essentially a down/up session. My usual plan at somewhere new is a big bait on one rod and smaller wraps or worm on the other, with perhaps a spinning rod in the quiver to muck about with if the bait rods are quiet. Is this a sensible plan for an island novice?

Any suggestions will be welcomed, better still if anyone fancies meeting up let me know.

Cheers guys

cant fault your tactics,
at the moment during daylight its mostly hordes of whiting, a few dabs and occasional ray.
after dark the dogs move in bigtime, although the chance of huss and conger go up.
the spinning rod may pick up some Pollack as well.
good luck

Amlwch Harbour is fishing good atm for the smaller species whiting an so on plus the is a chance of anything from there with it being so deep . Comfortable spot too on the end as long as the wind ain't too bad

Thanks both,

I think I’ll stick with the Ty Croes plan with Almwch as a fall back in case those south westerlies make the sea a bit treacherous on the west side. Wish me luck!
