Well 16 seniors and 1 junior turned out for this one which turned out to be quite a pleasant morning on the beach .
Everyone started to arrive and by 8.50 everyone was booked on so we were all ready and made the walk out at 8.55 we had the beach to ourselves so we made our way down to our chosen spots some headed for the green bouy some to the right and some to the left. We all got set up and 9.30 soon came and all in was called and the waiting began.
It didnt take long before a few fish started to hit the beach but mostly under size whiting and dabs the rumours spread up the beach of dogs and bigger whiting at the far left hand side I was fishing to the far left and this end we were getting bites but no fish other than the odd undersize fish .
I was starting to think its going to be another day with hardly any fish then suddenly my rod arched over and lifted the rod out of the rest which resulted in a nice Thornback ray of 78 cm which set the target to beat further down the beach fish were being landed regulary with quite a few getting a flat and round but our end was still very quiet with crabs becoming a problem stripping the baits soon enough it was 1.30 and all in was called so back to the car park for coffee and soup and work out the results 14 handed cards in with6 people getting the combo so results were in but every one was quite happy chatting away so I decided to have a cup of soup and wait for a while before doing the results .
