The Fishermans Net

A bit of a late report here - it’s not like I had anything exciting to report.

First proper session fishing into darkness this season. LW 19.36, 1.5m and HW 01.16, 8.7m.

I’d convinced myself that tonight was going to give some action. There was a stiff WNW? breeze I’d say into the 20-25mph region and stronger than forecast.

Sea looked great as it started to flood ……



……. but all I caught was this.



I’d say about twice the length of the worm. Mind you I’d pumped some very big worms.

Packed up just before HW - perhaps I should have done the extra half hour, but I wasn’t feeling it, and had had enough by that stage.

Is that a Tope Simon or a Hound what ever it is it look Ace?
The Bass will soon be in, they’ve not been prolific yet on the North wales coast either

At least you got out and had a go Simon . I recall a few years back the tope pups were there in numbers and no bass , maybe once we get a bit further into the season the pups will move off and the silvers may turn up

The small ones are usually tope at Formby but I think this was actually a hound pup. I wasn’t 100% though - which is why I didn’t specify
