Round 1 report and results

Round 1 saw 18 anglers turn out for a wet and windy match at mersey road.

When everyone arrived the rain had stopped but still very windy so once all booked on we made our way to the prom the boundaries were 300 yds to the left or right of the path leading from the carpark most headed to the right with the last 4/5 from the carpark going to the right.

We were soon All set up and at 10.30 all in was called and it wasn't long before the whiting started to show this continued throughout the match making it hard to find any other species and with the format being your 2 biggest of each species extra species would make the difference . with reports of other species caught the end of the match came soon enough so at 3.30 we made our way back to the car's so with the scores all in the results were in. Taking top spot on the day was David Andrew Lunt who managed to find not 1 but 2 Conger eels to go with his 2 whiting for a total of 194cm . Second place went to Tom James who found a dog fish and a conger along with 2 whiting for 146cm.

3 rd place went to John Waugh who found 2 whiting a dog fish and 2 small pouting for 139cm.

And in fourth place was Dave Roberts who found a dog fish to go with his whiting for 101cm.

5th was Jordan Roberts who found the only dab of the match to go with his 2 biggest whiting.

6th Ian Macfarlane

7th Mike Bishton

8th John Walsh

8th Don Adamson

8th marieg darley

Everyone else carded 2 whiting.

Biggest fish on the day was Dave lunt with his 84 cm conger and Dave also won smallest fish with a 10 cm whiting. The golden peg was number 17 which was Ian macfarlen but unfortunately didn't win so it rolls over to the next match.

All done it was a good match with plenty of fish caught mainly whiting with alot between 29 and 32 cm the left of the carpark threw up more species but getting past the whiting proved difficult well done to the top 4 especially Dave lunt who managed to pick up maximum points with an overall win and both fish pools. And thanks to Dave and Jordan for making sure everyone who needed worm got some fresh and frozen which was a miracle considering the tides and weather leading up to the match.

Our next match is the 23rd November fishing the stretch from the right of guinea gap up to the tunnel vents .
