The right decision

Mark was debating whether to fish Kinmel Bay on Sunday night or whether to stay local and fish Formby. He decided on the latter, and after getting his gear together and the blow lug he’d dug the day before, Mark was on the beach and first bait in the water for 6.10am. There was a nice n/w breeze between 10 and 12mph which was giving a good steady surf nothing too big. Mark had had his best bass from Formby in near identical conditions 2 years ago and so he knew the beach could produce. But would it produce today? Find out here…

Andy had wanted to try out some marks on the Lleyn and so he booked a week away in Porthmadog.  A session hunting spotted rays in Criccieth resulted in just dogfish and rockling, but his fortunes changed when he fished Porthmadog estuary. Find out how he got on here.

With a nice north westerly blow whipping up a surf along the North Wales coastline, Gaz and Godders decided on a crack at their first silver of the year. It was all flats at first with plaice and flounder being beached, but when the tide started to ebb the bass came on the feed. Read the full report here.

Sean (Bigun) had set himself the challenging mission of bagging a bass on the fly rod using a home tied fly. With the weather perfect for salt water fly fishing he dusted down his old Cortland GR2 7/8# weight reservoir rod and headed over to his chosen mark to fish an hour up to high and part of the ebb. They were all over, so not a problem getting loads to freeze down and some to keep till they pop. After that they headed to Dinas
