Cod rig

Post by Danny PC Clogooo »

Off to Hall Rd on the 17th and hoping to start catching the cod. Only been fishing a few years and wondered if someone can give good advise as the best way to make my rig?

Something along THESE LINES will be good for cod...make it a pennel for bigger baits instead of the single hook, and if you`re going to Hall rd,check the beach out for gullies before you fish...they`re not deep, but enough of a feature to attract the fish....or fish by the coastguard station with the noddies

Have`nt fished there since last winter...we usually snare one or two coddo...should fish it more often really  If you want to make a proper session out of it you could fish either side of low from the beach at SEAFORTH ROCKS big deep channel pretty close in that should throw up some good cod.....if we fish there,we stop off for a keeeeebab in Crosby before fishing the flood at Hall rd

You can fish from the corner of the rocks by the tower, but if you try to go on the other side of the fence you will have a visit from the bizzies

Just to clarify, you will not be allowed to enter the dock estate without a permit (that`s prob what the fella meant) you park by the marina at the bottom of Cambridge Rd and walk along the path adjacent to the dock perimeter fence. You can fish the sides of the rocks, casting across the beach...there`s limited space on the front of the rocks, fishing in to the main flow/fish holding channel...prob get 4 anglers on the front bit....problem is you wont know if anyone`s there til you get there and it`s a good 10 min walk

So what you are basically saying is get all the gear out of the car and take a 10 minute walk, as to which there may be no space and walk back? sounds like one of my typical fishing days ha.

Nice one Big Kev
