Wirral Mackerel bashing

Hi Guys,

I bought my two 12yr old Girls a fishing set each for Xmas this year and they're pestering me to go and use them, normally I'd go out on a boat from Conway or similar but thought I try their hands at some Mackerel first off some rocks or a peir.

They live in Liscard so does anyone know of any Wirral sites where they might catch?

you get them at moreton but to early yet

Normally Mackeral will show from Moreton through to New Brighton but not until August

Try at the double slip when the water is clear or on the embankment at Meols.Conditions have to be blob on for them to move close inshore.It can be a case of here today gone tomorrow.

Personally, I'd try just dropping a line down the side of the promenade at Vale Park during high. Bit of lug with a sliver of mackeral on a size 4 hook and a 2-3 oz weight. There won't be any mackerel, but there are rockling, whiting and codling there.
