Cleveley Bridge Fisheries 10/5/09

Post by Shacky »

Do you ever get up in a morning, with a realy bad headache. You take a couple of neurofen and hope the day will get better.
That's just how my day started. By the time Kammy arrived to pick me up, the tablets were just starting to work.
With the car loaded up, we set off towards Scorton.
Our arrival time at Cleveley Bridge was well early. But the Bivvy boys were already fishing
We had a quick snoop around , to find the most important places, the cafe and bog's
This is the stock pond, or was!, until somone pinched the Koi Carp...

Image

The main lake looked nice, especialy where the tree stumps, stood up out of the water..

Image

Neither of these we were fishing today. Meanwhile, Kammy had the order in for two full english breakfast's. Eventualy the grub came and we started to tuck in. Chris & Carol made an appearance, ordered their's and sat at the table with us.
Chris then commented on my toast, which had a green fur coat on
I nearly puked :| my stomach started rolling and could not eat anymore...

Image

The day didn't seem to be getting any better.
The others arrived and we had the raffle and drew pegs. I got peg 4 "Flyer" i was told. But you need Soft Pellet  mine were at home.

Image

So i trudged down to my peg. Opposite my spot were two overhanging trees. My mind was made up, stick the float there

Image

To my right was an empty peg, with Craig on the next along...

Image

Brian was to the left, fishing towards the far bank...

Image

Within ten minutes of the start, my first fish was in the net, a small mirror. Everything then proceded to slow down, a few small roach & skimmers were all i could muster.
The rain's came, just to kill the fishing off all together...

Image

I couldn't buy a bite, hoping the rain would stop, so i could catch a few more...

Image

It did :!: It was hard going and i managed three more small carp & bits.
The end of the match could not come quick enough. I was ready for home a bad day all round. Brian had been using the green groundbait and it had made his face puff out like a baloon  He must have an allergy to Betaine. Hope you are OK now Bri 8)
I finished the match with 4lb 3oz :(

Image

But, a big well done to Chris, with a bag total of over 40lb 8)

Great water, been along there a few times in the last couple of months. Seen some amazing catches and had some bloody good pegs. Just glad they dont still do breakfast though but the fishing is well worth a trip.
