Cemaes Bay

Got a new drop on the high street and as it`s one of those places i`ve never visited i had a look on the beach/harbour...looks like a lovely place with a nice breakwater (not that i`d be interested in that )....very few reports for it so has anyone got any info for it ? i`ll take my camera to work and get a few shots for the venues section.

sure I fished here many yrs ago off the rocks, was quite shallow if I remember right but will stand corrected. wasnt overly impressed with it to be honest!

Fished it a few times off the rocks up to the left side of the bay and the bay itself but never did much,must be 10 years ago,I dont think its changed much,there were a couple of charters operating out of the bay.

Hi Kev I'am newish to this, I have fished here off the breakwater at night at high and caugth dogs and dabs and also fished off the rocks to the right hand side near to the end . .

Cheers Dave...looking on other sites there appears to be fish to be caught....one report of a 7lb bass off the beach,but no pic` evidence...if nothing else it could be a nice blow off venue or somewhere handy for any older/dad n lad anglers

Fished there a good few times.

Winter just whiting, small codling septermberish. Wrasse at the end of the left hand side but snaggy.Whole bay is shallow (been over it in the yak!). Deepest water is at the tip but a natural reef means never gets that deep (bout 20 foot at low) - the reef however does form a natural bowl which you'd expect to really provide good prey fish trap for summer mackerel and bass (not seriously tried by me).

Beach is very sheltered and doesnt take a good surf, seen plenty of people fishing it without joy. Only ever taken fish at night from the beach.

Its a very easy spot on the whole, but then Wylfa is other side with its reputation and deep water close in (yaked it again).

Used to spin for mackerel in the '70s in front of the small campsite on the headland. Don't even know if it's still there There used to be a small tackle shop/ship's chandler's by the pub.

You used to be able to dig lug and a few rag there in the 80's....last time i set foot there tbh.
Nice sandy beach with a few stones. Lug in the centre of the bay and rag down the sides nearer the rocks.

HOW TO FISH
This is generally a nice clean beach with plenty of fish to be caught.
In the summer you will always catch the resident Whiting and Doggies to mackerel baits along with Wrasse, Bass and Pollack to ragworm. I have also had some nice Plaice here to 2 1/2lbs and plenty of Mackerel to feathers and spinners.
In the winter you get the run of Codling and Coalies to 3lbs caught on crab, fish and worm baits, along with some nice Pollack to fish baits.

Parking and Walking …..Parking is good with 2 car parks, each a short walk to the beach.
Summer Species……... ….Dogfish, Pollack, Mackerel, Wrasse, Codling, Whiting, Conger, Plaice.

Species Winter………..…. Whiting, Dogfish, Dabs, Codling, Coalies.
Best Months………...……..Jul – Feb.
Rigs…………………... ..... …1 Up 1Down Flapper1/0, Pulley PennelRig.
Best Baits……….…..........Crab, ragworm, lugworm squid, sandeel, mackerel, feathers.
