Advice for Spinning

I am a newcomer to the forums and was wondering if anyone could offer advice about spinning for Bass. I am normally found chucking fluff for trout , but as a child my dad had a boat and was a keen shore angler. I think I was too young to appreciate it at the time. I have recently bought some spinning gear and would love to do a bit of rock-hopping around Anglesey. I have heard about the outflow at Wylfa and wouldnt mind giving it a go, can anyone offer any info on the subject? Some fresh fish for the table would be fantastic and a nice change from Trout.

Wylfa can be good but gets very busy at times and the Bass are generally small.Either end of the straights can be better with bigger fish but you are unlikely to get exact marks from anybody because they like to keep them private mostly for reasons you will find as you explore more like gill nets that appear over night.
You can catch Pollock on spinners and shads etc. at lots of venues around the island and I think they taste better than Bass if you bleed and gut them straight after capture likewise Mackerel when it gets a bit warmer.
I would suggest you visit one of the tackle shops in Menai Bridge or Beaumaris and they will most likely give you some pointers if you buy some lures off them even better.
Walk in with your full set up purchased on Ebay last night and you will get only vague hints from most tackle dealers and it is sad it is coming to this but anglers can be viewed as wanting something for nothing regarding venue information and they tend to get a bit fed up with it after a while so be warned.
As with trout fishing size limits apply and most proper anglers like to stick around 42cms but the minimum takeable size by law is less than that.

Thanks very much for the advice. I have been studying the forum and hopefully will be having a trip out in the next few weeks. A trip to the straights semms in order and a visit to those local dealers. Thanks again and I will post any progress.
