Picked Sven up at 5pm and we headed for Pennmaenwrrrrrrrr
Sven did`nt bring his spade,so we took it in turns to dig a few....pity the handle on my bat snapped after 10 mins
we carried on regardless and got more than enough for the session
We decided to go for something to eat before crabbing, and as we approached the Golden Cod,Sven suggested having a proper meal in the Newbrough Arms
it`s the first time he`s invited me out for dinner,so i could`nt refuse
We found a candle lit table and enjoyed a 12oz gammon steak for me,while Sven had the minted lamb, washed down with a pint of extra smooth
Off to Ronnies for some crab
though we`d taken too long over dinner and the tide was well up by the time we arrived
only had time to find a few,so the intended session at Harrison Drive,on the way home, was scrapped
The weather was great...flat calm but muggy,so we had to stop at the Dingles for a beer to cool down before the 15 min walk to the Water Tower
We arrived on the beach at 10.30pm and got set up.....a bit of weed for the first hour was a pain, though it was`nt as heavy as it can be.Everything cleared around 1 hour before high, and we were expectant as ever for some bass action....we waited and waited, but no signs of lifeat all
Never mind,we built a camp fire to pass the time,as did the other lads on the beach (sport must have been slow all the way along)....just when we thought we were gunna be BDF for the night,i had a good rattle, about 2 hours after high, resulting in a small bass
quickly followed by 2 more of the same size, then Sven had 1 too
a few missed bites followed, then the tide had ebbed too much and the gully was all but empty....we packed up at 3am.
The fishing was again pretty poor (think it`s better in early spring) but the day/night was just what i needed after 6 days in work...enjoyed every minute of it Sven (except for the last 30 mins drive home, when i was struggling to stay awake
)...til the next time
