leisure lakes ---the woods

Got a peg in the woods at last on leisure lakes, this time with captain ken for company. Bait was the same as last episode, maggot pinkie hemp and dark groundbait, on arrival the lake looked a good colour, there was a moderate north easterly blowing but we were quite sheltered at the start of the session.
we both balled in 4 or 5 tennis sized balls of groundbait laced with the hookbait offerings.

i had bites virtually from the start, but not as many as on my last outing here, but at least we knew the fish were feeding, it was very cold in the wind...i wondered if the captain would last, but today he slogged on, even tho the fishing was hard, and managed a few nice roach and a decent sized skimmer


I had made a few changes during the session after losing a couple of decent fish, i switched to an 18 hook from a 20, and tried single grains of sweetcorn....and found a few nice bream, then lost what could only have been a carp as it fired off bottoming out my elastic ....until the inevitable ping and the hooklength gave way, a few more bream and roach til the cold got the better of us.
an enjoyable session with my good mate once again.
i must do some work on my top kits before i go out again.........anyway heres my end result
