My names Andy and i've just booked a week in Menai for some fishing. We are staying in the beamanis area (north) and we are right on the beach so i plan to fish this area exclusiverly for the week. Basically from The Wier up to the lighthouse is the area i'll be fishing.
I'm pretty clued up on shore fishing and have fished many different venues mainly around the south coast and the isle of wight.
However. I'm not so clued up as not to need some advice on this area. I know the tide can rip through here because of the natural geography and this the area of expertise i need from you guys. I've fished the Victoria fort area of the Isle of Wight on a spring tide so Know that this can be challenging what with the strength of the flow and the weed that generally gets dragged along with it.
Please advise me of any speciallist tackle and techniques required and weather the area generally fishes best at low water or high. Also when are the cod likely to be there and what other species i can expect.
I generally fish big baits for big fish at short to medium range but i can adapt to the conditions if needed.
By the way. I'm booked for end sept beginning october 2013.

Still looking for information from here though. Some of you guys mst've fished this area before. No? Personal experiences of the area is more what i'm after. Do you try and hold bottom with 8oz grippers or let the tides take the baits on a journey with rolling leads. What range is better on high spings close in or distance. Are there any shipping channels close to shore? That sort of thing
