Match Report: 4th round of NWASAC Summer League, Sun 4.8.13, Vale Park Bank, New Brighton (28 rods).

For the first time in recent memory, dabs were entirely absent from catches at this normally prolific low water venue on a wet and windy afternoon. Modest numbers of plaice and flounders partially filled the void but with a local shortage of peeler crabs and a rival match at Lancaster reducing the attendance, this fourth round was a low key event compared to earlier ones.
However, the league is now too close to call with John Waugh’s last cast flounder and plaice (his only two fish of the match!) keeping him in contention.
There was a welcome and popular win for local angling writer Phil Simpson; he also shared the flatfish pool.
