Where is Cod Corner

Hi Guys,

I have been sea fishing for many years but only just started fishing on the Mersey. This may sound like a silly question to some but, where exactly is Cod Corner and what are the best tactics for the venue.

Thanks for the picture guys, pretty obvious when you see it. What is the best tide state for the area and is it snaggy?

its probably the most snaggy venue this side of the mersey tbh, i personally wouldnt bother unless you have peeler for at least a month yet as the crabs will be thick on the ground there,any tides fishable but i prefer other places on bigger tides

Yes I believe there are mussel beds around there and as a consequence its an underwater warehouse for sinkers and rigs. However some decent catches taken due to the deep water and the availability of food - is a 'no pain no gain' venue IMO

never mind the mussel beds its the trolleys bikes and other oops been chucked in even saw a dryer in the mud just by the wall there couple of years ago ffs it must of been more effort than taking it the tip lol

Try using the blue bendy wire Gemini leads.You can generally pull out of most snags.

First place i ever seafished cod corner-castingf towards the liver buildings lands you on the mussel beds.
SLOSH 30 with 35lb straight through and a rod with a bit of backbone
Its not a mark that requires casting distance either

I was always told to cast towards the big gas tank over towards Garston.

As Steve says,i`ve always aimed for the gas tank,and although i don`t fish it regular,i rarely got snagged

i didnt think of heavy line, casting around to find clear areas or using bendy leads ohhh what a fool i am thats why i found it snaggy. ffs im there every couple of weeks when there in im not gonna say it for fun its hardly a secret mark im trying to keep people off
