New to forum and a question..?

Post by Milligan »

Hi everybody, new to the forum, I have always wanted to fish the Mersey, but only managed a coupleof winter boat trips... I have a couple of ageing mates 65+ who want to come with me ,it will be a shore trip, so I need an easy access venue as one of them has mobility issues.. I was thinking the Otterspool area after reading the venue information, problem is it will be Wednesday this week, and it is a big tide, both are quite happy catching whitings and flatties, I would like the chance of a Cod, but as they are wanting to wet a line I think my wants are second choice !

My question(s) are, will the river at Otterspool be fishable on a big tide , and if not could an alternative easy access venue be suggested ? Neither are up for wading over puddles or sandbanks.

Thanks for reading , any help would be great.

Welcome to the site.

You might find the flow at otterspool a bit hard going on Wednesday, its a big tide as you said and there was lots of rubbish coming down the river on Saturday. Personally I'd be looking to fish the Wirral side and if you want an easy high water mark then Wallasey town hall or Maddocks slip areas seem to be the type of venue to meet your needs. Access is easy and there should be a few bites to be had.
