Tactics....like Adam says,the codling often feed early on before the whiting move in,so i`ll be going big with dropper rigs and 1 up 1 down rigs loaded with combos of lug,frozen crab,razor,squid and hopefully live shrimp if i can find any at Crosby en route to the match. Recent reports show fair numbers of small codling so i expect most to snare one,but it`s who can find the bigger fish,which leaves the other species to find.Whiting are not being reported in great numbers,but there should be enough about,but again it`s finding the bigger fish,and sandeel will be my choice of bait for that,plus it gives you an outside chance of a dog,though they are very few and far between at Otters,preferring to stay on the sand around the river mouth.
As ever there`s no need for casting any distance,and don`t ignore dropping a bait right against the wall...you`ll be surprised what`s under your feet.
Finally i`ll be taking a flask of hot soup and wrapping up warm,coz it looks like it will be baltic on Sunday.

Tried with lug,crab,razor,squid,sand eel and shrimp for 2 hours before losing the will to live and packed up after 2 hours....give me a beach any day of the week.I had intended to fish the league this year but with family stuff meaning i`ll miss Vale next week and two more prom matches,i`m afraid i`m out....good luck to those who fish.

Some good size shrimps though Tony....pity there was`nt any fish about.
