Anyone reckon its worth having a go for cod in the river with these north easterlies blowing?

I don't bother with wind direction in the Mersey as I find it makes little if any difference.....open beaches are a different thing . For me it's not cod time until November....Fylde coast always sees them first and it's still quiet up there.

Got some peeler claws and bluey in the freezer, so i'll give mariner's wharf a go tomorrow morning then. Maybe a ray or a cod...


And heard a few reports of cod showing in the river, especially on the boats. Fella I spoke to lost one up the wall at mariner's last week.

NE wind was our ideal conditions on the east coast of scotland. I miss the night sessions for the cod with a good easterly blowing. In fact some of the best bait was black lug from merseyside.
