Double slip

Fished Round 4 of the Sefton Sac summer league on Friday night at the double slip area of Harrison drive ,New Brighton . Fishing times were 21.00 till 01.00, a late one but needs be in the battle against crowded venues .
I had a little luck drawing out end peg 20 towards Morrison’s and was made up to see only 2 pleasure anglers setting up a long way to my right . All in went and variety of baits went out . Rag , blow lug , crab mackerel and squid were my choice. It was slow , very slow , chance to chat to Ste Bonner who had pegged next to me. My dad Les pulled in a small flounder down the wall on peeler crab so started having a think about doing the same . Danny Parker had also had a small flounder and his Dad Gavin had an eel doing the same . Mind made up , crab down the wall. I managed to get 2 eels over the rule including a stonker which must have been 1 1/2-2 pound for a total of 80 points which secured the win for me. Only other fish caught was another eel for Cheyrall Danielle which was on black lug down the wall. Paul Bonner lost a Smoothound on the ebb but a tough night all around

well done Steve good win due to skill of changing tactics .

you had the group of rocks against the wall at your location / its funny how the fishing differs from month to month

Have found the hounds just not around in numbers after mid June / the bass only on rough conditions / plaice move off end of April

Be interesting seeing how the WSF match gets on first week in August and what species turn up.

I personally think it may be tough. Tide is small and in my experience August can be poor in the river
