Weekend 24/25 July had a session on the Menai Straits Target was bass and mullet BUT had a blank.


Mr Seal paying me a visit

But did get some rag to bring home and use on a local session


Weekend 31 July / 1 August conditions and tide very good





But again a blank not even any sign of a bite / but that's how it goes at times / so move on and hope things pick up .

I`ve had 1 chub in my last two sessions,but it`s good to be on the bank...next weekend could be the one....the match fished poorly with only 6 fish caught by 5 of the anglers

Good to see your report and pics Brian. The WSF match was dire.As with many others I sat for 4 hours without a bite,with baits coming back untouched.

Yes it has been hard work last couple of months from the beach any way
But I for one are a glutton for punishment and will keep at it / Hopefully like previous years it picks up and starts fishing well again towards the end of August.

Am looking forward to the regular targets during the September and October months

Kev is your fishing on the Ribble quite quiet / I did have a go at the fresh water fishing but every place I went was like the Yukon gold rush

Yeah it`s a long stretch so you can always find some peace n quiet....it`s generally a 20 min walk to the quiet stretches...just wish we`d have some proper rain to get the levels up,as it was still pretty low on Sat

It’s a shame your sessions weren’t more productive but the Straits are a pretty magical place to be which hopefully provided some compensation. I blanked at Formby last Sunday in sub-optimal wind conditions and am going to Hoyle Bank today where the forecast is looking very similar. Sounds like I’ll need everything crossed and some good fortune having read your report.

Hi Simon yes its like that as you well know ? conditions are everything but even then the fish could be feeding else where on something else

I say it all the time 10/20 % knowledge 80 % luck is needed for good fishing sessions

We had 6 others to the left where you fish and I could see nothing happening down that end either .

Unlucky bri, like Simon says there's worse places to blank!. I fished Formby sat, a nice 19mph westerlie so conditions looked spot on but baits came back untouched . It will make us keener for our next sessions tho
