A fine turn out of 22 anglers spread along the Kingslake rd stretch in search of anything that swims. In all probability we would be looking at whiting and flatfish, and that`s exactly as it turned out. Maerig Darley got off to a flyer, taking a 33cm flounder on his first cast, but spent the rest of the match trying in vain to get a whiting to go with it ! Myself and Lee started off well,at the far end of the stretch, taking whiting to get something on our cards and the 24cm dab i had would make it a frustrating day for me as i could`nt find a slightly larger one for my double. As the match went on it was clear it was gunna be a hard day at the office....Roy Schofield was the first to get his combo, and his 27cm dab and 27cm whiting was enough to take the win.Dave Roberts snared a last cast 25cm dab to go with his 27cm whiting which would see him take 2nd spot....they were the only anglers to get the combo, leaving Maerig to finish 3rd with his flounder. We now move on to Otterspool next Sunday, where we revert to the 2 species for your combo,as flatfish are as rare as an Everton win
Hard day at the office well done to Roy and Dave for the double and Maerig for the longest fish and all who caught
Getting tight at the top that’s fishing for you
Never thought I,d spend three and a half hours trying to catch a whiting and still fail
I Know Mr Duffy won,t believe me but the flounder was superb with chips.
