Seacombe 7-9lb Hounds X2 Sessions With Gaz! 13lb Roydon Grasscarp With Chris 6.82lb Mostyn Thornback Ray/Mostyn With Ste

Had a really good months fishing. Especially one week halfway through, I had a 8-9lb Smoothound that took off like a speed boat and landed it myself with Gaz at around 3:30am. Then later in the evening at 8pm thought I'd try and get my first course session of the year out the way at Roydon Park and I managed a 13lb Grasscarp (with Chris) same way I caught the Mullet in Spain, same reel too but sadly the rod that it came with snapped at Mariners earlier on in the month heaving my box on my back and then it snapped. I had a cracking start on the Sole too first session trying for them I managed a 36cm Dover Sole well over a 1lb, a really thick fish and an absolutely brilliant meal too and one heck of a bite, slack line and fight. It had a Bass rod curled over thumping away .

I had a few sessions at Caldy just practicing for the matches Flattie bashing, with a close in Schoolie to go with it on one session on the Agility Flattie 3oz a really good fight. Me and Chris fished super early to try and get on the mud we managed it just about but the winds were horrendous and surfable waves, we also managed a Flounder each, mine on my first cast and Chris on his second just this weekend.

Me and Gaz had a total of four hounds between two sessions, first early morning start Gaz was in first with a near 10lbr or possible 10lb Female hound and it was a slack liner.. videos and images in the links attached below. Then after that he was in again but much smaller hound at 5lb. Then I cast in with hope of not blanking and my rod starts going as Gaz says look at your rod Tom, so I looked it looked very good and then it just went down and down and down and went ZzzZZZzzZZZZzzzzzzzzz off it went, so I picked up the rod and lifted into it and the fish stayed midwater the whole way in with a proper bend on the rod. I go down with the rod down the stairs and landed it myself, whereas Gazs first one needed a dropnet which was welcome to christen mine.

Second session with Gaz we went again but a bit further left on the promenade, glad we did, anyway I was tired so I went in for a 15min break with the rod out at the start as the tide was pulling hard. I see Gazs headlamp shining on the van mirror so I leapt out and then he says lost it, so I thought right lets get the rod in, anyway soon after that I got some good indications on my rod tip with a small zzz zzz so I picked up the rod and played it in a 96cm male Smoothound was landed without dropnet, getting the knack of it now.
Then much later on when the sun came up Gaz hits into a 89cm Female Smoothound. Both glad we did'nt blank once again in style and Gazs first sea fishing sessions since February since breaking his ankle. Thankfully he's now able to walk without crutches just the other this happened.

Mostyn was great on a Sunday not long after the first Smoothound session with Gaz and Grasscarp with Chris, on that Sunday I landed a 6.82lb Thornback Ray by the ship, a second ever Mostyn ray and a good one too, what a fight on a high tide second cast too fishing one rod.

Then me and Ste Atkinson this Sunday decided to venture to Mostyn left hand side, I was rewarded with a small Plaice on the fourth to fifth cast somewhat far out on peeler and frozen black lug, unfortunatley Ste blanked and lost 2 rigs and I lost one when we moved also.

Certainly recommend 4/0 Aberdeens rather than smaller hooks you get such confidence in the fight on 4/0s

Cheers Daley Certainly did put some early morning hours in and some hot days out. Might go the rock channel soon but the weathers been very erratic as of late
