Perch Rock Sunday Morning Rays

Had a good start at Perch Rock on the Rays, Stephen Atkinson found two babys just on arrival at around 8:20am
I used 4/0 sandeel and squid wraps on two hook flappers and first cast had a lovely 5lb Female Thornback Ray.
Then I cast in my braid reel bit broken but some how lands fish and had a 4lb Male Thornback Ray. The a series of good bites but no fish followed.
Ste then had a rod lifting take and landed a nice 4lb Male Thornback Ray.

We shared squid and sandeel throughout the session. His refrozen squid and my fresh frozen sandeel did the trick.

Cheers. Was really busy even met Roy Schofield and his grandson, they had some rays and a nice Plaice

One of my rays I believe it was the Male I managed to get it right upto the top far out and it skated across the surface all the way in.

Not much was happening for most anglers, more than a few blanked. No Smoothound at all, like you say it's as if the hounds are feeding elsewhere.

If you are using braid and missing bites it is often due to crabs.With braid having virtually no stretch it amplifys bites.Peter Coogan once told me that when the bites appear to have stopped its because the crabs have stripped the bait.

Shame some never got into the fish ? / nearly all the time its just a Suttle change to something that makes the difference / a move / casting distance
/ rig or hook size / change of bait used or size of it.

Or tap into the the knowledge that this site has ???
Same as this fishing forum only takes people to post or comment and it suddenly becomes popular again

These bites were definitely fish they kept hitting it I presume it was a baby ray on two occasions. I've had baby rays give some great bites in the past on the rock channel.
Braids excellent for fast retrieval on rays.
This site's very helpful. And it was the Sandeel and squid combo working it's charm on the rays.
