Sounds like a version of the way I do it, 3 ft flourocarbon trace, about 12 lbs bs or so, size 1/0 Aberdeen, above that a swivel., main line has either a round drilled bullet or a flat coffin lead (depending in tide strength ) threaded on and a bead, then tied to above swivel. Simple rig.

Usually fish the above in the River Camel estuary in Padstow,depending on tide cast either upstream on a falling tide or seaward on a flood, the rig rolls and catches in the rippled sand, a slight twitch on the rod tip moves it a few feet until it finds a depression , and then same again. The Bass really hammer in to the bait as it rolls usually.

Would that sort of setup work for flatties feeding in gullies with an attractor spoon and smaller hook?
