With not much on today, reasonable weather and a small high tide at 4pm at Mostyn I headed down there on the lookout for a ray. Parked by the funship and was heading down to fish by 13:45, 3 or 4 others fishing or just setting up. Headed down a bit to around peg 7; busy by the ship and I’ve tended to avoid the first few pegs as it’s been really snaggy on previous visits.
First rod set up with bluey and squid and chucked out. Relaxing with a coffee and deciding whether or not to set up the second rod, then a pull down followed by a slack line resulted in the first ray, female about 3-4 lb. First cast of the year!
One more pull down on the bluey/squid rod resulted in a feisty male ray of a similar size:-
I fished lug and crab on the other rod on a loop rig when I got around to it, a few rattles which looked very whiting/dab like - managed a single whiting on that rod, better one probably around 40cm.
Packed up just after high, not the most exciting session but very welcome and target achieved.
The other lads managed one ray and a few dabs and whiting between them.
