Everything I’ve read recommends very big tides over low here. That wasn’t the case today with a 2.5 mtr low but sometimes you can’t always get out when conditions align so I thought I’d give it a shot.
Got to the car park at 12.30 (having had the obligatory stop in Gerry’s!), with low at 4pm had lots of time for a bacon butty in the cafe before walking out to the water. Nice quiet spot with easy parking. There was a lad finding a few fresh peelers on the way down, next time I’ll give myself more time for a forage.
Rods were in at 2pm, frozen peeler on a long pulley on a dongle/hair on one, loop with prawn and worm on the other. Moderate westerly of circa 12-15mph in my face, sunny in the main.
Only took about 15 minutes for a good pull down on the crab rod, resulting in this hound of about 6/7 pound.
Had 7 in total, all on crab, best two were doubles:-

Got off the beach after an hour or so of the flood, weed had really picked up.
Cracking day and a mark I’ll definitely return to, good access and relatively easy fishing - not much tide although lots of weed at times.
