The SSW turned to southerly as forecast, but the sea still held a decent little surf and improved as the incoming tide gathered momentum.

2.5 hours into the flood, with my bait at a greater distance than I had been fishing most of the session, my rod tip made a slow dip. It made several more of these and I thought it looked like a flounder bite.
Pleasingly, I was wrong.

I had another cast and gave it half an hour, but nothing more. I’d have liked to have given it longer but I had an early start for work the next day.
The fish was full of small fry and boy, what a stink when I gutted it. Absolutely delicious with chips though.
