Hi Everyone,

Having not been out since the autumn, it was time to overcome the inertia and get back out there.

Combination of being busy with other stuff, a bit of illness and generally uninspiring fishing reports locally have kept me home.

Got on the sand 2 1/2 hours before low, a bit later than planned due to roadworks, also didn’t have time to get fresh worm on the way so the baits were fish, squid and peelers from the freezer.

Squid and Bluey at range gave the first bite and fish of the session, a thornie of around 4lb. Second cast on same set up delivered another one of around the same size. Wondered if I was in for a bumper session but that was it for the day, no more bites.

Felt a bit rusty, poor bait presentation, ‘blew up’ a multi, random casting direction etc. debris in the first 50 yards meant fairly frequent recasts, generally a nice evening though. (Except the mini squall storm that hit as I left - strong winds and horizontal rain in the face to accompany my walk back to the car)

Overall, it was fabulous to get back out. Standing on the beach pottering with my gear with the hope of some fish does wonders for my mental health, can’t wait to get for the next one. Will endeavour to be a bit more organised next time!
