Six Fields Fishery, Southport

Mathew and me went to Six fields Fishery at Southport yesterday morning.
We both picked a comfortable peg and started fishing.

Mathew used ground bait and 4mm expanders on hook, while I used green swimstim feed pellets, 4mm and 6mm expanders.

It's a cracking fishing day as the bites were just NON-STOP!

We managed 300ish fish in between us, most are F1s and a few other carps. Shame it's not allowed to use keepnet there or we'd be even more happy.

We packed up at around 4:30pm as we really felt ENOUGH for today. Next time will use paste / big luncheon meat to aim for bigger fish. Catching too much fish just too tired, you know.

Mathew landed his 70th fish at noon (still 4 more hrs to go!)

It's a good place for beginners, plenty fish and only need a few sections of pole.

The problem with places like that is the "beginners" have no idea of what it is to have to work for their fishing.It`s fine every once in a while to have a bagging session,but it`s boringly easy

You`ll get a lot more satisfaction from bagging a few tench from a big lake or canal.....a few quality roach,chub or barbel from a river......proper fishing

I understand what you mean Kev.

I just think the beginners only can learn by catching fish. As so many bites, they can try differet float types, strike timing and shipping the pole back.

The owner said there are 1300 F1s (mainly around half pound) in the pond but not many big carps, 4 hrs match wining weight around 30lbs in summer so it's not that heavily stocked.

I think yesterday the hungry fish just woke up from winter and only a few people fishing. We were glad our feeds hold the fish quite well.( one lad blanked 20 yards left of me

1300 F1s in such a small pool

these fish are the most aggresive feeding/fastest growing of the carp family, i think the owner could have a few problems in such a small water in the very near future

we will see
