Bannister House Fishery 2006-05-09

Post by feederman »

Mathew picked my up at 5:00 and we headed to Bannister to catch the first light.
We fished the old lake because we thought there's a match, but found out just the owner didn't take the notice away, and think he's not going to take it away! :?

Mathew caught a new species at his first chuck, a goldfish?

and a 4-5lb common at his 2nd chuck. We caught steadily with crucians and tenchs, but no big carp to boost the weight, we managed only 30lb net in 5hrs.

Then we moved to the canal lake to have a short 2 hr session. Fish there are bigger. Mathew used his gorgeous new pole and fished tight to the far bank and he got paid off with this nice carp to end the session. 8)

I caught around 10 skimmers around 2lb, and 10 barbels ranaging 1-4lb with some crucians. 40lb net for 2hr, not very bad.

I used groundbait, 4mm pellets with 6mm expanders on hook, didn't land a single carp all day. :? And 2 floats were broken becuase of the strong fighting barbels, crazy fish.
