Rock Channel 03/06/2006

Fished the rock channel over low with Flukiephil and Steve Duffy. We met up at 8:30 and were crossing the gully by 08:45. We hiked way to the left beyond the Derby Pool.

Phil Managed this Tub Gurnard on his 1st cast

That was about it really. I took a couple of small codling and a whiting as did Phil. Steve blanked.

We met Al Middleton oput on the bank too. He'd had a gurnard and small stuff, but had had his 1st smooth hound last night.

Forgot to weigh it for the species hunt Kev!

Mind you Moan it in Mid was chuffed and miffed! First Starry at 6 lb and his camera had took a drink in his rucksack crossing the gully last night!

I hope it dries out OK Al so you can take the pics of your next Smut!

ye but no but ye but not really!

Its the first Mersey Red Gurnard I have caught. Had a smattering of tiny tub gurnard from around here but this is another species on the cards....Whats next?

I think this bank will throw up a few suprises over the summer!

It's Phil im tellin yer! He's a fishing talisman....I coudnt catch a cold to be fair...go fishing with Phil n catch a big thornie! You should start charging mate.
I woudnt mind but i stayed in scratching me ar*e last night.
Got some boss chesties now so I can get out there nice n early.

The smoothy made an escape bid at the last moment. Phil took the only option availbale and went swimming for it. Nice one. I keep trying to post the photos of the smoothy I took however, i'm not having much success.
