ive only fished it once before and that was 25 years ago so i just sat anywere, i was on the opposite side to the police station looking down the lake

there was a nice clear bank behind me and no walkers near so i decided to fish at 11meters as it was short notice i used upo what was alrerady in my bait bag i had a tin of meat that i diced , a pint of expanders and a couple of pints of mixed pellets
it was quite quiet for a sunday with only a few carp lads and an old geezer for company, the carp lads had been there all night (6 or 7 of them all with 3 rods out) and never had a touch apart from one tench that was supposed to be about 8lb, one of the lads was using a bait boat, the place is only about 50m across at the most god knows why he needed to use it, mind you his mate was spodding the entire lake by the looks of things ::)
second chuck and i had a nice skimmer about 3/4 of a pound followed by another and another, this was to go on all day (apart from a slack period of an hour about 3 o'clock), mingled in with a couple of proper bream to about 5 lb, some nice tench and much to the disgust (the shout across the lake of "thats bloody typical that is" gave the game away) of the carp lads a proper carp that looked about 16 or 17 pounds

the bottle of vodka was at my peg when i got there, it must of been quite a night as there was another empty one aswell, i had to use something to show the scale of the carp as nobody was around when i caught it
it was a funny day there was a lad in the lake after his ball, then a bloody jack russel went in after the ducks and was swimming round after them for about an hour, it was getting tired you could tell but it woudnt give in, one lad jumped in after it, nearly reached it then gave in, then a girl dived in after it and luckily got it, i had some dog biscuits with me i was going to use to tempt it to the side with
i woudnt like to hazzard a guess at the total weight of the net but i was struggling to get the bloody thing out of the water and it was over 3 rings full when it was on its end ( without the carp that went straight back in)
a great day and all free
